UpLight Technologies designed and provided the audio, visual and lighting production for 5 performance halls at the 2023 NCA All Star Nationals Cheerleading Competition (the World’s largest All-Star Cheerleading competition), held at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas Texas February 24-26, 2023.
Here is a detailed tour of the event by the numbers:
FBT system provided:
In order to play the competition music for over 450 performances across 2 stages over 3 days featuring some of the best all-star cheerleading athletes in the World, UpLight Technologies selected FBT Horizon VHA and FBT StageMAXX systems to make sure every beat was heard loud and clear.
With a demanding event schedule of performances every 3 minutes for more than 13 hours a day for 3 days in a row, having a quality, great sounding and reliable speaker system is a must: “We selected the FBT Horizon VHA series for our main PA because of the clarity that we were able to achieve at high SPL levels over a long period of time.” – Says David Surbrook – “In addition, the speakers being able to be used in a vertical or horizontal configuration gave us the flexibility that was needed to ensure sound coverage where it was needed in a variety of venues from large arenas to exhibit halls to smaller ballrooms. The integrated rigging hardware and networked control options via Infinito – System Management Suite were the icing on the cake. For stage monitors we chose the FBT StageMAXX 12 MA because of its sleek and flexible design, amazing sound, durability and high output”.
Performance halls A and B each featured a 100% FBT sound system including 4 FBT Horizon VHA 406 N speakers per side for a total of 8 per hall, 3 FBT Horizon VHA 118 SN subwoofers per side in a cardioid configuration for a total of 6 per hall and 2 FBT StageMAXX 12 MA monitors along the front of the stage. The Horizon VHA system was controlled by the Infinito – System Management Suite network system.
The Audio design and production team for the 2023 event was: David Surbrook, Stan Shilliday, Scott Dupre and Zach Charles. In addition, the UpLight production team for the 2023 event was: James Mitchell, Lacee Godman, Phillip Panos, Kevin Arsenijevic, Rhys Kiernan, Ritch Ludke, Patrick Boehringer, Lauren Brittain, Justin Troutman, Brian Walker.

To launch the distribution of FBT products in Canada, Erikson Audio organized a listening session in a demonstration room at the Expo-Scène show in Montreal April 13th and 14th. Visitors were able to experience all models from the X-Series (X-Pro, X-Lite and X-Sub), plus selected models from Subline, Mitus and Archon.
“This allowed the opportunity for potential customers to hear and compare each model as loud as they wanted, for as long as they wanted, which would not have been possible in the main exhibition hall of the trade show. As an appreciation for visiting the demonstration room, visitors received a delicious FBT branded cookie!” Mario Leroux, Product Manager.

The Live You Play event saw FBT participating with live performances of the most complete HORIZON VHA system in cardioid configuration, monitored with our INFINITO System Management Suite software.
